For Descartes, our thoughts don't literally have a location in space; that is what makes them 'res cogitans' (though the dualism people habitually appeal to is often less coherent than Descartes view).

The passage made me think of the extended mind view (Clark and Chalmers, 1998, https://consc.net/papers/extended.html) where our mind incorporates the tools we use to think with, as well as our bodies. So, by this logic, our minds are increasingly located in server farms.

But there's also something more metaphorical. One can have one's head in the clouds, and, during this difficult time, my thoughts can be with you...
